Black Beauty
Period of creation: since 2022
Personal project
Black Beauty is a portrait project dedicated to the visibility and celebration of People of Color. It emerged from my experience working as a social worker in a refugee center in Switzerland, where I supported minors between 2014 and 2021. During that time, I witnessed repeated acts of discrimination against people with dark skin—both from within the host society and among refugee communities themselves. These experiences left a lasting impact on me.
With this project, I respond artistically: I portray People of Color in their beauty, dignity, and diversity. Black Beauty is a quiet, respectful visual statement—against stereotypes, for presence and recognition.
